Years ago, during my initial introduction to tantra, I recall a specific exercise that left a lasting impression on me.

I sat face to face with my partner, John, our hands resting on our laps while gazing into each other’s eyes for an uninterrupted thirty minutes.

A lot happens during a few minutes of uninterrupted eye contact.

During this prolonged eye contact, I gained a deeper understanding of the human psyche. Later, I did some researched and deepened my understanding of the surprising healing powers of eye contact, based on science.

Today, I’m inviting you to be an observer of my experience with eye gazing without filters, exactly how I lived it. You will penetrate my mind and emotions and surely draw the same conclusions that I did during this experience.

Next, I'll share a bit of science and a step-by-step guide to practice eye gazing with the people in your life, so that you can heal your relationships with them and connect deeper. Not only prolonged eye contact deepens intimacy, it also cultivates mindfulness, and promotes emotional connection too.

Bonus: Just for the fun, I'm ending this article with a small experiment of eye gazing I did with an AI image generator.

My Experience of Prolonged Eye Gazing

I lifted my head to stare into John's eyes.

His almond-shaped, beautiful brown eyes in contrast with his dark caramel skin caught my attention, and I couldn’t help but giggle at a silly thought that crossed my mind.
