Beloved,
Thank you so much for being my supportive, loyal readers.
I’m finally making the transition to Susbstack. And like anything out of my comfort zone, I’m frightened!!
Yet, I’m still doing it.
I would like to ask you to stay with me during this transition time and forgive me for my trials and errors.
Taking advantage of the blogging format of Substack, this email and the next ones will be longer than usual.
And without further ado, today's topic is about some sad news I can’t discuss on Medium because… it’s about Medium and writers like me.
Medium officially broke down, causing the most influential writers to leave the platform.
“Slavery: A condition of having to work very hard without proper remuneration or appreciation.”
When Medium announced in July 2023 that it would change its payment system for writers, I failed to notice that I will soon become a slave and so I kept writing.
As a result, August and September 2023 have been the worst months of my life as a writer.
I usually take about 8-12 hours to write one article.
Guess how much Medium paid me this September? $31 for 96 hours of work.
As for comparison, in April 2023, I made about $720 working 72 hours (which was enough living in countries like Mexico or Brazil).
And here’s my mistake:
I was so confident I could sustain a monthly income of $800 that I stepped away from teaching tantra so as not to partake in cultural misappropriation.
It was already a hard choice because I knew I would lose a big part of my income by choosing moral values over money, but now I'm kinda fucked!!
This change in Medium has been a hit on my face. So I'm moving to Substack
Let’s me do the math:
I have 785 members on my newsletter
I have an open ratio of 45%
So there are about 353 of you who are interested in hearing from me.
If 90 of you subscribe to my paid Substack, I can stop putting my best work on Medium and send you directly my juicy tips here.
All the efforts I was putting on Medium, I could put it here on Substack.
But it only depends on you, if you're willing to support my work as a writer for the price of a Netflix, Spotify or OnlyFrans monthly membership.
So, what do you think?
With that said, part two of this newsletter is three important life lessons in the face of adversity and it is only for paid members.
If you want to read the rest and help me buy my freedom out of Medium NOW, please become a paid member :)
You can either use the 7 day free trial or use the 50% discount on my annual plan I have for you here.
3 Important Life Lessons in the Face of Adversity
I have a friend who took no risk in his life.
At 35, he’s still a virgin because approaching a girl or putting efforts into improving his social skills or his appearance is too risky.
